Googleマップで米国は南部、テネシー州クリーブランドのHillsdale NEを探したのだが見つからない。Hillsdale SEか、Hilldale NEなら見つかる。NEとかNWとかは区を表すらしい。あと、"Bradley county"という呼び名もあるが、これは正式なものではなく、昔からの通称「〜地区」とか「〜郡」であるらしい。住所自体は検索をかけると随所でひっかかる(晩年、家を本屋にしていたらしい)ので、通称でsが抜けたのか。zip-code(37312)で検索して下に少し下りると見つかる。Lee大学までは数kmだ。それともNEが記憶間違いでSEなのか。だとすればzipコードが合わない(SEのHillsdaleは37323)、、、。もう一度手紙を見て見よう。あと、リンクが切れるとまずいのでメモして置く。それとマイケルのアドレスは、michaelsnell＠comcast.netだ。

DR'S OBITUARY
Dr. William Robert Snell, age 76, resident of Cleveland, TN, went home to be with the Lord on January 14, 2007. Born October 16, 1930 in Birmingham, AL, he was the youngest of ten children. He graduated from Howard College, Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY, Samford University, (where he also served on the faculty), and received his PhD in history from the University of Alabama. Dr. Snell was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cleveland where he had served as deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was an ordained Baptist Minister. He served as Professor of History for 29 years at Lee University. He was the local historian for Cleveland and Bradley County. He was a member of the Bradley County Historical Society and the Southeast Tennessee Historical Society. He was Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troup 10. Dr. Snell wrote articles for The Cleveland Daily Banner and wrote several books about local history including Cleveland, The Beautiful. He loved his family, his church and teaching and enjoyed visiting with former students. Dr. Snells favorite Bible verse was Psalms 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Janet W. Snell, two beloved sons, Stephen Michael (Linda Farah) Snell and Jeffrey Alan (Gabrielle Cline) Snell, grandsons, David Michael and Andrew William Snell and one sister, Eleanor Robbins of Birmingham, AL and several nieces and nephews. Dr. Snell had two sons from a previous marriage, William Robert Snell, Jr. and Mark Eugene Snell. Special friends, Jeremiah, Faith and Arianna Rathe.
A Celebration of the Life and Home Going of Dr. William R. Snell will be held Thursday, January 18, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Allan Lockerman officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be the Koininia Sunday School Class and faculty and staff of Lee University.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the First Baptist Church of Cleveland.

Snell told CA: "When I researched the history of Camp Hill Baptist Church for an author, I received such a positive response to the project that I considered concentrating on local history as a good subject to write about. When employed as a professor at Lee College (now University) in 1970, I began a systematic search for information in books, magazines, and local newspapers, concentrating on Cleveland and Bradley County.
"While several individuals acted as the reference people for questions about the history of the community, I resolved to study and write about it. In 1971 the editor of the local Cleveland Daily Banner agreed to run my short historical articles. From this beginning I have contributed articles on many subjects. I have compiled lists of city and county officials, and have recorded some of the more interesting historic events in the community."

（後記）2020年6月19日、発掘した手紙を見てみると、郵便番号（zip）は、37311だった。また、Hillsdale SEは、リー大学からさらに南東に２キロほど行ったところなのに対し、Hilldale NEは、3765と言う番地も存在するし、ファーストバプテスト教会へは北東に１キロ、リー大学へは南西へ２キロである。しかし、3765で見つかる写真の家は、1977年当時とは明らかに変わっており、リフォームしたか建て替えたかいずれかである。
（後記）2022年3月9日、GoogleMapの図を貼って置くことにした。あと、NuwberのサイトはAccess Deniedになっていた。うん、その方が良いと思いますにゃ。
（後記)2022年7月11日記、上のOBITUARYに、had two sons from a previous marriage、とある。お二人のお名前は、WRS Jr. と、Mark Eugene S. である。
この件について思い当たるふしがある。ホームステイ中に、スネルさんが、ボール式（高いヤツだ！）の電動タイプライターを使っているのを見せて貰ったことがある。自分も少し触らせて貰った。また、ステイ中は、手動の古いタイプライターを貸して貰っていた。その電動タイプライターで、何か手紙を打っていて、「自分は、友達に手紙を書いている。毎月○○日に書くことにしているんだ」と聞いた覚えがある。
毎月、手紙を書くなんて、マメな人だなぁ、くらいにしか思っていなかったが、今、思い出して見ると、その、毎月手紙を書く「友達」と言うのは、前の結婚での息子たちだったのだろう。
OBITUARYによれば、彼は1930年生まれであり、自分がステイしたとき1977年では、47歳になっていて、当時、長男が、中一か中二である。そして、奥さんと43年（2007/1/14）連れ添った（is survived by his loving wife of 43 years）とあるので、結婚（再婚）は1964年、彼が34才のときである。
